Canon BP WPOY 2017-18 Award’s Night

The Canon Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2017-18 Awards began with an afternoon session of talks by Sephi Bergerson and Prakash Tilokani, on 29 March, at the Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach. During his talk, Sephi reflected on the responsibilities of a wedding photographer, and how they can create value for their clients. This was followed by a presentation by Prakash Tilokani, who recounted his entire journey as a wedding photographer. Guru Vaidya, Creative Evangelist and Senior Solution Consultant, Adobe Systems, took the stage after, and spoke of the innumerable possibilities with Photoshop and Lightroom. He was then succeeded by Pritesh Rao, a Canon Photo Mentor, who spoke about the practical ways in which gear can affect photography. The afternoon session ended with a live demo of Canon cameras and lenses.

Prakash Tilokani presented a talk recounting his journey in becoming the most sought-after wedding photographer in the country. Pritesh Rao, Canon Photo Mentor & Head of Department for Photography at Pearl Academy, Mumbai, spoke to the audience about the practical ways in which gear can affect photography. During his talk, Guru Vaidya, Creative Evangelist & Senior Solution Consultant, Adobe Systems, spoke about the unlimited possibilities of Adobe’s Photoshop and Lightroom. The main awards ceremony began in the evening, and was attended by some of the biggest names in the industry. Before the awards were announced, Eddie Udagawa, Vice President, Consumer Imaging and Information Center, Canon India, was invited on stage to address the audience. He spoke about Canon’s vision for wedding photographers in the introduction of flagships such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV (also given as the main award to the title winner), and a lineup of admirable lenses with a level of quality unequaled by any other. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony, where each of our category finalists were invited on stage to receive their certificate and trophy.

The time had finally arrived to announce the winner of the Canon Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2016-17 Awards. Prakash Tilokani, Sephi Bergerson, along with Eddie Udagawa were invited on stage to present the award. The title of the Canon Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2017-18 went to Gurgaon-based photographer Karan Sidhu. He arrived on stage amidst a thunderous applause, and collected his award.
